Paragliding at sunset

Paragliding in Pamukkale is a tandem flight: you take off from the hill above the travertines, glide over the white terraces and Hierapolis, and land in the village. You are the passenger; a licensed pilot flies the wing, so no experience is needed.

How long is the flight?

Time in the air is usually 20–30 minutes. With hotel pick-up, the drive up to the launch site, the safety briefing and the return, allow 1.5–2 hours in total. In very good conditions the flight can run a little longer.

What affects the price?

  • Package: flight only, or flight with photos and video filmed during the flight.
  • Season and time: sunset flights are the most requested and sell out first.
  • Transfer: ask whether hotel pick-up and drop-off are included.

You can see our current packages and prices on the Pamukkale paragliding page.

Who can fly?

  • The weight limit is usually 30–110 kg.
  • Under 18s need permission from a parent.
  • Do not fly with a heart condition, after recent surgery or during pregnancy; if in doubt, ask your doctor first.

Is it safe?

On tandem flights the pilot is licensed, the passenger is insured, and the equipment, including the reserve parachute, is checked before every flight. Weather is what really decides: if the wind is not right, the flight does not go, and it is moved or refunded. Trust the pilot’s call; a good company will never fly you in bad conditions.

What to wear

Closed sports shoes that hold your ankle, comfortable trousers and a windbreaker or light jacket. It is cooler on the hill than down below. Sunglasses are fine; hats come off for the flight.

Best time of day

Mornings are calm, and sunset has the best light. On summer afternoons thermals get strong, and some days there are no flights at that time.

Pamukkale or Ölüdeniz?

In Ölüdeniz you launch from the high summit of Babadağ, famous for its sea views. In Pamukkale the view is the white travertines and the ancient city, the drive to the launch is short, and the flight fits into the same day as your Pamukkale visit.
